Disini saya berbicara mengenai para ulama religius. Kita harus berpikir keras mengenai apa yang sedang kita hadapi – dan saya, sebagai fakta,sebelumnya telah membahas topik ini beberapa kali. Sungguh tak bisa diterima pemikiran apa yang kita anggap paling sakral ternyata menyebabkan seluruh umat (dunia Islam) menjadi sumber kegelisahan, bahaya, pembunuhan dan kehancuran atas dunia di luar Islam. Ini mustahil!
Berbicara di depan Universitas Al Azhar dan Kementrian Awqaf di hari pertama Tahun Baru 2015, dan dalam kaitan dengan Perayaan Maulid Nabi Muhammad, Presiden Mesir Abdel Fatah al-Sisi, seorang pendukung vokal untuk sebuah versi Islam yang diperbaharui, menyampaikan hal apa yang paling mendesak untuk dilakukan guna menjawab masalah yang tengah dihadapi dunia Islam.
Sisi saat menyampaikan pidato Tahun Baru di hadapan Al-Azhar
Diantara hal-hal yang ia sampaikan, Sisi mengatakan bahwa “corpus dari teks-teks dan ide-ide Islam yang telah kita sakralkan selama ini” adalah “antagoni seluruh dunia”; yaitu bahwa “tidak mungkin jika 1,6 milyar manusia (menyinggung 1,6 milyar umat Muslim) ingin membunuh penduduk dunia non-Muslim – yang berjumlah 7 milyar – supaya mereka sendiri yang bisa hidup”; dan bahwa Mesir (atau dunia Islam secara keseluruhan) sedang dirusak, dihancurkan, dan sedang terhilang – dan dunia Islam ini justru hilang ditangan kita sendiri.”

Ini adalah antagoni untuk seluruh dunia!
Mustahil jika 1,6 milyar Muslim ingin membunuh penduduk dunia non-Muslim – yang berjumlah 7 milyar – supaya hanya mereka saja yang bisa hidup? Mustahil!
Saya menyampaikan pernyataan ini di sini, di Al Azhar, di hadapan perhimpunan para sarjana dan ulama – Allah yang maha kuasa menjadi saksi atas kebenaran anda pada Hari Penghakiman mengenai apa yang sedang saya bicarakan saat ini.
Semua yang saya sampaikan pada anda, tak akan bisa anda rasakan jika anda tetap terperangkap dalam cara berpikir seperti itu. Anda perlu melangkah keluar dari diri anda sendiri agar dapat mengobservasi dan merefleksikannya dari sebuah perspektif yang lebih tercerahkan.
Saya katakan dan mengulanginya lagi bahwa kita sangat membutuhkan sebuah revolusi religius. Anda, para imam, bertanggungjawab di hadapan Allah. Seluruh dunia, saya katakan sekali lagi, seluruh dunia sedang menantikan apa yang akan anda lakukan … karena umat Muslim sedang dilukai, dihancurkan, dan sedang terhilang – dan ia terhilang justru di tangan anda sendiri.
CATATAN: Tidak jelas jika pada contoh terakhir mengenai umma (umat Muslim), apakah yang dimaksudkan Sisi hanya mengenai Mesir (sebuah bangsa) atau apakah disini ia berbicara mengenai pan-Islam, yaitu seluruh umat Muslim yang ada di dunia.
